Live Lessons for pupils from home

Dear parents/carers,

We have been working hard the past few weeks to put in place steps to ensure we are as prepared as possible in the event that a class or multiple classes would have to self-isolate or if we were ever to enter another lockdown scenario like before.

As a result, we have listened to parent feedback about the home learning and can I thank you for the very positive comments on the whole.

The key barriers you have shared as parents and carers to home learning were:
-Time restraints
-Work Commitments
-Smaller children
-Not knowing how to access the online platforms and how to upload work.

The suggestions for improvement were:
-Live lessons with teachers
-More paper based packs
-Check in with pupils via video links.

I can now inform you that we have planned and prepared so that we are able to deliver live lessons in the event your child's class has to self-isolate or if we were to lockdown again. Pupils in Y1-Y6 will be able to access 2 live lessons per day with their class teacher, as well as other pieces of work online. Our Nursery and Reception will be able to access pre-recorded videos of their teacher and we are currently working on how we can provide a live lesson per day to our Reception aged pupils.

We have practiced every week since our return with all pupils on how to log in, access the work and access live lessons so they are well practiced. We would now like to engage with you as parents and carers through asking you to join us in a virtual meeting with your child's class teacher so we can provide a tutorial on how to access live lessons, work posted and how to upload work to the platforms we use.

These meeting will take place starting from Wednesday next week and will be later in the day to support those working parents/carers as well. Please keep an eye out for a slip that will be sent home with your day and time slot. We will also post the days and times via this app, the website and Twitter. We have asked the children to bring you to the meeting and log you in via Microsoft Teams.

Thank you all for your continued support, we are excited to meet you and show you our plans.

Mr Thomas
