Health and Well-Being Curriculum

Curriculum

At Ysgol Y Bryn we aim to help our pupils become:

• Ambitious, capable learners, ready to learn throughout their lives

  • Enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work
  • Ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the World
  • Healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members
  • of society

We support the delivery of the Health and Wellbeing AOLE by ensuring we offer pupils:

  • An understanding of the relationship between food and healthy body and mind.
  • A cross-curricular approach to Health and Wellbeing and to integrate it into all curriculum subjects.
  • Daily opportunities of physical literacy through the delivery of the 30x5 initiative.
  • Well planned physical activities to include health related exercise and to make good use of opportunities for cross-curricular promotion of physical development and it’s relation to diet and nutrition.
  • The knowledge of Keeping Safe online by delivering sessions and promoting Safer Internet Day.
  • The opportunity to develop their PSD/PSDWCD skills by delivering the programme JIGSAW through a variety of topics:

Puzzle 1 - Being me in my world,

Puzzle 2 - Celebrating Difference

Puzzle 3 – Relationships

Puzzle 4 – Healthy Me

Puzzle 5 – Dreams and Goals

Puzzle 6 – Changing me

Each class has their own JIGSAW character and Jerrie the Cat as well as a chime to practise Mindfulness and Breathing Techniques.
